Taking a stand in the gospel of salvation by grace
2 Timothy 3:14-17
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of Goda]”>[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The gospel is the power of God for salvation.
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
We are all saved by grace – not by our righteous acts
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
The Gospel – the glorious message of God’s grace to us that had, has and will overcome our sins.
1 Corinthians 15:2-4
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importancea]”>[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…
Past Deliverance
Making a decision – We made a decision for Christ at a particular day. We publicly acknowledged accepting Christ. The day we got born again, we were regenerated – saved from the power of sin. God Gave us a new heart. We received the saving faith. We were justified by God – given a new record. God declared us righteous. (2 Corinthians 5:21)We were adopted – saved from the position of sin. We are no longer in a family of sinners, but belong to the family of God (Romans 8:15)
Present Day Salvation
Sanctification – this is what God is doing in our lives today. He is setting us apart for Himself. We are being saved from the practice of sin.We are living a more obedient life. God is giving us a new life (Ephesians 4:22-24)
Future Grace
Glorification – this is the kind of salvation we are waiting for. We will be clothed with another body. The salvation of our body. We shall be saved from the presence of sin.
We shall be introduced to the new home (Romans 8:19-21)
