– Jesus rode on a donkey (not a white stallion) because it was a symbol of servant-hood.
– On palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling the prophesy.
– On Monday, he chased out traders and thieves from the temple.
– On Tuesday, He taught on Mt. Olives.
– On Thursday, Jesus and his disciples ate the last supper; then He went to the garden of Gethsemane to agonize.
– On Friday, the crucifixion.
– The people possessed a casual faith in God, not a committed faith. Their words did not match their hearts.
HOW TO HAVE COMMITTED FAITH
1. A committed faith is Christ-centered not self-centered.
2. A committed faith is relationship driven.
3. A committed faith is not swayed by what happens to me or by personal trials.
– The people celebrated His entrance because of His miracles and because they thought he would deliver them politically.
They cheered Him because of what He could do for them.
– The crowd did what was popular back then. One day they threw their cloaks on the ground as He passed because that’s what everyone was doing. A week later, they were chanting against Him because everyone was chanting.
– Peter’s faith faltered when confronted about Jesus. He denied Him thrice.
– Jesus said in the world, we will face tribulations, but worry not, He has overcome the world.
