In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
The 11 keys for Open Heavens
In summary
• Pay your tithes • Keep your priorities right, that is focus on the Kingdom of God • Give acceptable offering • Don’t look back to your old life • Maintain proper relationship with others • Be willing to work hard •
Key #1 Paying Tithe
Tithing opens heavens for us. When we pay tithes, God gives us heavenly blessings, more than money.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Key #2 Keep your priorities right
How do we keep our priorities right? By seeking His Kingdom and his righteousness. How? By believing in Christ and being born again. We have to be born again if the Heavens will be opened to us. We must seek first the kingdom of God.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Key #3 Give acceptable offering
The offering we give should correspond to how much we are blessed with. God sees not just what we’ve given but what remains behind. Be a cheerful giver.
For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Key #4 Don’t look back to your old life
We should not let our past failures define us. Failing before does not brand you a failure.
Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
Key #5 Maintain proper relationship with others.
Importantly, keep a harmonious relationship with your husband or wife, lest your prayers to God are not responded to.
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Key #6 Be willing to work hard.
To prosper financially, we must be ready to work hard. We cannot be lazy.
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
Key #7 Keep sin out of your life
Key #8 Pay your pledges to God
When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow
Key #9 Respond the cry of the poor
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done
Key #10 Exercise patience.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised
Key #11 Believe on God proven ministers
If they obey and serve him,
they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity
and their years in contentment.
Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”
